What do you do when you’re having a great time exploring a new city, finding new local hangouts, seeing all the local shows, making new local friends, enjoying your temporary roommates in your new flat, and generally loving where you are?
If you’re us, you leave!
We got all spontaneous and jumped in the car. Brian decided I needed a long weekend of Scottish exploration.
First stop, Comrie in Crief. Brian’s sister lives here with her family and we had a wonderful few days with them. We bonded over beautiful hikes and screeching X-Factor contestants. How could you not?
More on the hike later, but I wanted to share Comrie’s best little local attraction.
Teddy Blair’s Sweets N Treats. It’s like a mini Willie Wonka’s that will just about fit in your pocket.
We got a cheerful “Good morning” when we came in, and started filling up the penny candy scale (not a penny anymore!) with scoops of every childhood favorite candy on the shelf. Chocolate raisins? Vanilla fudge? Creme mints? Chocolate coated ginger? Rhubarb rock? Puff candy? Caramels? Sweet peanuts? More chocolate raisins? Old English favorites? Spearmint chews? Even more chocolate raisins?
Yes! £5 for a good sized stash that would last a normal person two weeks.
Ours was gone in about ninety minutes.
It’s OK though, now we have another reason to go back. A sister is an excellent reason for a visit. A sister with a candy shop nearby? Bonus points!
