Well hello there, week fifty! Where did you come from?
Contrary to the evidence, I have not let my 365 photo project fall by the wayside. I have been (sort of) diligently taking my “Through” photos (mostly) every day. Editing and posting them? That’s another story entirely.
I have learned a few things with this year’s project. First and foremost I have learned that if you don’t love the theme you’ve chosen, and if you don’t think it is fun, you will have a very hard time sticking with it.
Not that I haven’t enjoyed trying to get creative with the “Through” theme. Most days a good shot or three really jumped out at me, and I ended up with several to choose from. It was the other days when I was less inspired, or when I didn’t get out of the house, or when I only spent time in places that were less than forthcoming with interesting shots to frame, those were the days I wanted to chuck it all and say forget it.
I gave in to that temptation way too many times this year.
I also learned that new gear, different lenses, fun props and a little self motivating chatter in my head could pull me out of those flat days. Making myself work for it gave me some of my favorite shots.
Now the year is nearly done (already?!) and I have some ideas about next year’s project. To be honest, I can’t believe I’m even considering doing this for a third year give my commitment-phobic personality, but I am!
I loved my “From Where I Stand” project from last year and will probably do it again next year. I have a few more ideas too, so I’ll narrow it down within the next nine days before this year is over and the new one begins.
So roll on, 2014! We have big plans for you in so many ways! New projects are in the works, and we have so much to do! Keeping a daily photo journal of all of these preparations is the biggest reason of all to keep on going. It’s been a full year in 2013, and it looks like 2014 is going to keep pace. One day we’ll have these photos to look back on and remember how much we loved this life.
