This has been a week of “taking care of business”, and a little bit of exploration while finding new neighborhoods.
I started the week with my long walk and cemetery tour:
We officially went apartment hunting, with an actual property management guide with keys and everything. And by “We” I mean “I”. Brian is overflowing with work, and his boss is in town, so he’s been putting in extra long hours in the office and hasn’t had a chance to breathe for a while. As it turns out, the apartment we really like, and have all our fingers and toes crossed for, is beautiful and way more luxurious than I hoped to have.
I mean, really, do we need three pools, four BBQ areas, a basketball court, tennis court, soccer pitch and bocce ball run? And a spa? And gym? And a salon for crying out loud? Clearly not, but I think I can struggle through. All I really wanted was a decent balcony and one pool. I think we’re about to be spoiled, and I would feel really bad about it except that this apartment was cheaper than the others we saw, just because it’s a bit farther from the middle of town. The other apartments each had only one (smaller) pool and very small common grounds. I think we lucked out, and now we’re hoping that we can trust the assurances we’ve heard that we’ll actually get it, and get it soon. Wish us luck! (And start planning your visits, because we have a spare bedroom!)
Mid week, we spent a fun evening out with “The Boys”, AKA Brian, his two co-managers, and the boss. See? They’re not all-work and no-play after all!
Although to balance out all that fun, we spent Saturday morning in the office with them (another urgent meeting, of course):
I didn’t mind. It was a fairly short meeting and now I’ve had the full tour of his workplace and have a clear picture of where he is all day.
And do you see that stack of “To Do” papers? Developing a new company is a big job, with never-ending stacks of paperwork.
But, we managed to spend our Sunday doing this:
It’s a pretty good place to be with a good book in your hands.
Sunday was truly a day of rest, complete with naps and room service. Brian had worked so hard all week, I was almost glad when his computer crashed and he couldn’t work in the hotel. He really needed the break.
So where were you this week? Did you stick with familiar paths, or find a new part of your town? I hope you’ll post a link to your favorite photo from this past week below in the comments. Links to blog posts, Flickr accounts, Instagram photos or any other place where you display your digital photos is welcome. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to.
