365 Photo Project – Week 13

It’s a big week!

I don’t know if I’ve ever properly laid out our plans here on the blog, so here’s the deal: Brian is working for a UK company which went into partnership with a Brazilian company to form a third company in Brazil. Got that so far? Well, the UK company is sending us to live in Brazil where Brian will be in charge of developing the partnership company for the next several years.

He’s been working in the UK and has been sent down to Brazil a few times over the last six months but, since I’m an American, I wasn’t able to come with him. I needed a visa to come back to Brazil and my previous visa had expired. Brian went down again two weeks ago, and I finally got to join him on Thursday this past week thanks to two separate trips to the Brazilian consulate in London and a shiny new tourist visa in my passport.

We’ll most likely be here for two months while we’re getting to know the area and deciding where we want to live. International apartment hunting anyone (again)? After that two months, we’ll return to the UK until our resident visas are processed and then make the move to Brazil permanent. Or… As permanent as anything is for us, which means we’ll stay until the job is done and then move on. While we’re living in Brazil we plan to do as much exploring as possible, and really take advantage of how close we are to some incredible destinations in South America.

Did I mention that our future has always been wildly unknown? When we left Brazil eight months ago we expected to be settling in Scotland. Oops.

Now, on to my favorite “Through” photos of the week!

Through St. Pancras Station

Through St. Pancras Station

With two hours to wait before my return train I followed a friend’s good advice and explored St. Pancras train station in London, which is just steps away from King’s Cross Station. Both are beautiful pieces of architecture.

Aaaaand… Here we go again. :)

Through the Plaza

And we’re here!

The hotel has some internet issues, so I apologize for posting this one day late. I hope you’ll still link up your favorite photo of the week!

Wow how exciting :D I’d love to be able to say we were moving somewhere like Brazil but in reality I’m sure I’d be far too scared. It was a huge thing for me when I moved only 50 miles away from my family!

    Those photos are wonderful :)

Shell, I’ve never lived in one house longer than five years, and have lived in five US States, and four countries. I don’t really have a home to move away from so it’s much easier for me to move to a new place, especially with Brian. We realized long ago that “home” is wherever we are together. Thank goodness for Skype and Facebook though! I can’t imagine being far away from loved ones without the easy communication!

Terrific photos, with a clever theme. St Pancras is an amazing piece of architecture isn’t it?

What an amazing adventure you’re embarking upon. Brazil must be a really exciting place to be at the moment with the forthcoming World Cup and Olympics. Enjoy it!

I loved St. Pancras and would have missed it if my friends hadn’t mentioned it.
Yes, there is a lot of interest and new activity in Brazil because of the Olympics and the World Cup. I’m really interested in seeing how it goes! I really hope the country uses the influx of money and attention to make major improvements to their infrastructure, and especially to their education system.

      Thanks, Tammy!
I can’t go on an airplane without taking that “out the window” shot. There is just something fantastic about being above the clouds. :)
