365 Photo Project – Week 12

Through the Metro

Going down, down, down to the metro platform

It’s been a week of waiting. A week of nothing planned. A week of staying home and avoiding the cold except for two much needed days out to have lunch with friends.

Next week is a big one though. A day trip to London to pick up my passport, and a flight to Sao Paulo to go apartment hunting. We’ll stay there for a month or two and hope to find a place we can call home for the next couple of years. A home base from where we can see more of the country and explore parts of South America we didn’t have a chance to see last time.

The mystery of the house behind this door is killing me

I’ll miss these very English places I’ve gotten used to. The Metro, the hedges, the very clean and well stocked grocery stores.

Oh, wide aisles, spotless floors and well-stocked shelves. How I will miss you.

I would say I’ll miss speaking English, but I don’t think it will change much from what I’m dealing with now. Brian and I speak a mix of English and Portuguese at home, and when I’m out in public the locals can’t understand my American accent and I can’t understand their Geordie accents. The only difference in Brazil will be the base language, the misunderstandings will be the same.

I’m ready for it though. Bring on the next chapter!

What are you getting ready for this week?

Add your link below to your favorite photo of the week. Did you shoot something you would miss if you had to leave it behind? Did you even think about that when you took the photo?

Don’t forget to add a link back to our site so others can share too, and go leave a comment for the others who link up.

Can’t wait to see what you would hate to leave behind.

That door is very intriguing. I love the angle of the escalator shot. It’s very effective. Good luck with finding an apartment, it all sounds so exciting.

I think you should investigate the house behind the door before you leave the UK. What an exciting chapter you are about to embark on in your lives – good luck.

Fiona, I wish I could check out the house! It’s surrounded on all sides and I can’t see through the hedge without looking like creepy stalker lady. Gah!

Love the door! i wish I was heading somewhere like South america, however, I can’t complain as we have been away from Toronto since November and are beginning our journey back home tomorrow. We will meander across the States and stop when we fancy. We are already planning our travels for the rest of the year and have next winter almost worked out!!
    Safe travels!

No, Jackie, you aren’t allowed to complain! I love your plans, and hope you have a fantastic trip home. Driving across the States has been one of my favorite ways and places to travel! Best of luck with the journey. :)

      Thanks. :)
For some reason, I always like the view down a really long escalator. It sort of feels more like a ride.

That escalator is quite intimidating – reminds me of the one at Dulles Airport outside of Washington, DC – thing goes forever. Engaging photos.
