365 Photo Project – January 2014

Another January has come and gone. Zoooooom! There it went.

It’s been a quiet month filled with small things keeping me close to home, but I’ve still found happiness in getting those small things done. This life of international living can sometimes feel very normal. I have chores just like I always have. I still have to take care of the bank account, do the laundry, cook another meal, go to the grocery store. I want to remember these homey days just like I do the adventurous days. The nice thing about staying close to home is that we find the gems hidden in the neighborhood. The gorgeous church hidden behind those bushes, the park on the other side of that hill, the mosaic sidewalks one street over that we never knew were there. Small travels around the corner can sometimes bring beautiful surprises just like big travel can. I try to have my camera handy when I stumble across those surprises.

I’ve chosen my top five favorite photos of the month in each of my two projects. Let me show you where I’ve been.

From Where I Stand:

The 2.7km running path at the city park.

A bit of yoga at home.

Singles tennis against the wall.

Our wonderful local fresh food market.

Ninety degrees and the pool is closed? Oh, come on!

The Crystal Ball:

Hanging out in the church gazebo.

Cross the bridge.

I love this little tree in our neighborhood.

Even the grey and rainy days have nice views.

We have some amazing street art here. I’ll have a whole post about that soon.

February is full of travel, new adventures, changes in scenery and even some snow. Next time I’ll show you new and different places. I’m almost glad we had a local month because it makes the upcoming excitement that much more fun.

Love your photos as always. Love that you are still doing ‘From where I stand’ and the crystal ball themes. You are making us all look bad hahaha. Across the bridge is beautiful and just why was that pool closed? I have climbed the fence of a closed pool before with a friend (not a good idea) lol

Right? Totally uncool to close the pool on such a hot day. Not sure why they closed it, the sign just said for maintenance and the water was about 8″ low the next day. Maybe a problem with the water supply. Who knows, Brazil has all kinds of weird complications! lol

I thought about climbing the fence, but it was too hot to work that hard! :D

the street art looks amazing, I admire people with a talent. the gray day looks so much brighter upside down. I think the bridge is my favourite, still toying with the idea of a sphere to take pics with.

I’m so pleased to see the return of FWIS because you do it so well! Big exercise theme going on there? The running track one is great but I can’t believe that the pool was closed! I’m wondering about getting a crystal ball because it’s such an interesting photo composition.

Thanks for linking up to Project 365,.

      Thank you. :)
I’m really enjoying seeing a few others pick up on this theme this year. Super fun to see their interpretation of it!
As for the Crystal Ball, I’m loving it! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the shots too. :)
